To whom it may concern,

Dr. Allan Berger at the University of Iowa and I administer two major international veterinary email lists, VETPLUS@WUSTL.WUVMD.EDU and VETPROF@LISTSERV.AALAS.ORG.  We would like your company to consider sponsoring the administration of this list. We began soliciting annual sponsorships in 1997. The list provides advertisements for sponsoring companies, and keeps them in the public view of veterinarians in a professional forum.

VETPROF/VETPLUS are closed private email lists. Participants use the list as a discussion forum for clinical cases, treatments, and practice and professional issues. Subscribership is limited to veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary students, veterinary educators, and academicians/commercial workers active in veterinary-related research. The number as of December was 1711 (see summary statistics below). We have served over 4000 veterinary professionals since our inception five years ago.

The list appeals to a diverse group of practitioners and academicians, and a stringent agreement with subscribers allows us to exert control over maintaining a professional discussion. We began work on the list four years ago. The success of VETPROF/VETPLUS has exceeded our expectations.

As a VETPROF/VETPLUS administrator sponsor, your business will receive direct exposure and recognition as follows:

At least 24 email postings/year to all subscribers will mention the sponsors in a three-line format.

Example

Allan and Jeff gratefully acknowledge the following sponsors who directly underwrite our efforts to keep VETPLUS-L going:

XYZ, makers of DEAD-END, the final solution to fleas!
Contact XYZ at 1-800-333-7765, or <dead-end@xyzproducts.com>
Please visit our Web site: http://www.XYZ.com/dead-end

Also, we will provide a 3" by 6", hyperlink from the official VETPROF/VETPLUS Sponsors' Web site. The page of sponsors' links will reside on a private server, and will be the place where you could have a graphical/textual/hypertext reference to your product line or service.

The following companies have sponsored the VETPLUS/VETPROF list administration:

Butler,    DermaPet,    DVM Newsmagazine,   E-Service.com,    Fort Dodge Animal Health,    Hill's Pet Nutrition,    Schering-Plough,    Smith Veterinary Services,    Value-Added Interactions,   Veterinary Information Network (VIN),   and  VetSoft Clinical Software.

We have attached a brief statistical summary of VETPLUS-L subscribers. In short, this shows we have about 74% practicing veterinarians, 12% veterinary students, and the remaining 14% are veterinary educators, researchers, and technicians from academia and industry. All members of the list are forward-thinking and technologically savvy.

We are asking $500 annually for sponsorship. We make clear distinction that the list itself is not being sponsored, rather, that the list administration is being sponsored. We hope that you can help us succeed in this effort to renew our energy in keeping this list a fantastic place for veterinarians from all over the world to meet and converse.

We invite you to join the list to see what it is all about. If your occupation or educational background doesn't meet the usual criteria for subscribing to the list, we can give you a trial "read-only" VETPLUS-L subscribership to check us out.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
